At Wednesday’s meeting, the Board of the Hellenic Table Tennis Federation voted for Panagiotis Gionis to take over the position of general secretary. The position had been left vacant since last week when the Board of Directors. elected Socrates Papasavoglou as the new chairman of the Technical Committee.
Until today, the general secretary of EFOEPA had submitted his resignation orally, as he is also the chairman of the Local Committee of Northern Greece and could not respond to the much increased responsibilities.
Panagiotis Gionis expressed his interest and desire to take over as general secretary, knowing that he would be out of action for a long time, due to his leg injury, the chairman of the Board, Costas Papageorgiou, responded to the idea and, thus, proposed to administration the name of his longtime teammate in the National Teams.
The Council welcomed the new perspective and at Wednesday’s meeting Papasavoglou officially resigned and was replaced by Gionis.
Of course, the champion of the five Olympic entries is not a temporary solution.
Of course, he continues his career abroad and with the National team, however the rationale is to take advantage of the long period of time that he will not have many competitive obligations to learn his duties well without burdening his schedule at all.
