Tokyo’s fourth Paralympian, Dorothea Poimenidou, “booked” a place for the Olympic bow final at the European Paralympic Archery Championships in Rome after excellent performances and sensational duels in the quarter-finals and semi-finals. In the match of the eight, she defeated Britain’s Taylor Hazel 6-5, while she advanced to the final after a 6-4 victory over Poland’s Milena Olzewska.

On Saturday at 17:25, Poimenidou (No. 6 in the world ranking) will challenge for the gold medal against the Italian Elisabetta Minio, whom she had beaten in the quarterfinals of the Tokyo Paralympic Games.

Poimenidou in the qualifying round was third with a performance of 599 (301 + 298).

“Dorothea made a really, really great performance, proving, once again, the high level of athlete she is. Her preparation went perfectly with performances that made me believe in a medal. A year after finishing fourth at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo, now comes a medal at the Pan European Championships. Really, I’m very proud,” said the national coach, Alexandros Nasoulas, after the semi-final was over.
