There was an interruption in the match Nick Kyrgiou and Riley Opelka at the ATP 500 series tournament in Washington, USA, due to weather conditions with the Greek expatriate leading 1-0 sets and claiming his entry into the quarterfinals of the event. Kyrgios managed to take the first set in the tiebreak with 7-1, while he was also 2-1 ahead in the second set before the match was stopped.
Play was scheduled to start on Friday at 20:30 with the winner continuing later that day against whoever wins the other suspended match between Tiafoe and Van De Zaundsulp (1-1 sets).
In the first round, the Greek-Australian No. 63 in the world ranking eliminated Marcos Giron (No. 53) and in the second the also American Tommy Paul (No. 34) without yet having lost a set in this particular tournament.
