“Air” from Bosnia and “2 on 2” for National Women’s Volleyball

With comfort and clear superiority, the National Women’s Volleyball won 3-0 sets in Bosnia for the second matchday of the 2023 European Championship qualifiers and with “2 on 2” in the group, took an important step towards qualifying for the finals of the competition .

The representative group welcomes Norway next Saturday in Mikra for the third matchday.

With 16 blocks and 8 aces and few errors in their game, the National team won the second derby of their group.

The first set was reminiscent of the opening match against Switzerland last Sunday. With a good serve and an excellent function in block-defense, the National team led 7-3 and 9-5 and at 13-5 of Konstantinidou, the set was finally decided.

Bosnia stormed into the match from the second set on, going on a 4-0 run to take an 11-8 lead. Greece responded with a similar run for 11-12 and, from that point until 19-18, we had a point-for-point battle. Anthoulis equalized, Konstantinidou and Strandzali with a block made it 19-21, the latter with an attack made it 20-22 and there a new 3-0 streak with Anthoulis and Kelesidis brought the 0-2 set.

In the third set, the National Team took the lead from the beginning with 3-1 and 5-3 to escape again with the serve of Konstantinidou with 9-5. Bosnia cut to 8-10 and turned 12-16 into 15-16 with a 3-0 run by Boskovic. Vlahakis and Anthoulis brought 17-20, with two blocks we reached 17-22 and Anthoulis made it 17-23. Vlahaki brought the score 18-24 and the outside attack of the Bosnians brought the victory.

2nd set: 7-8, 15-16, 19-21, 20-25

3rd set: 5-8, 12-16, 17-21, 19-25

*Bosnia’s points came from 1 ace, 31 attacks, 5 blocks and 15 opponent errors and Greece’s 8 aces, 40 attacks, 16 blocks and 11 opponent errors.
