Why they can never stop being Lions (Image: Jonathan Brady/PA/Alex Pantling FA)

How many times have Jill Scott and Ellen White personally said, “This is it”?
They were soaking wet on the side of a busy highway waiting to be picked up by a broken down minibus.

when in reality they were trying to get their team while playing for a ‘pro’ club. Being treated with another ignorant comment or unfair comparison.

Both ended their playing careers in what was considered pure fantasy when they wore the Three Lions jersey for the first time in 2006 and 2010. European Champion. Wembley sold out. Over 17 million people watch live in the UK alone.

As has been announced on your runs, on the evening of July 31, 2022, when Chloe Kelly came home from up close and the ground shook a little when seen from 100 miles away, no other will scream louder than the evening of day.

But it takes another thousand days to ensure the immortality of British women’s football.

Leave it all behind for the field, club, or country, and simply shower and nap before heading straight to work “for the day.”

Writing for the Players Tribune this week, Scott said: You can’t. Dreams are what keep you going.

It’s a great quote, but on BBC5 Live, his former country and club mate Jizzy Christiansen said that in his early years they were really “chasing a dream that didn’t exist: a paddy field”.

He’s right, and the path Scott and White played a key role in is even more exciting.

How many times have they done the same metaphorical race, only to be denied the delivery they deserve, despite being at their best long before the sporting world.

It’s safe to say that Scott and White were a huge success. The Grateful Dead performed below those two heights.

However, the shortest ones were definitely the tallest from head to toe, and the camera just wasn’t there to capture them.

I don’t want to bog this column down with statistics, but Scott has more caps than JD Sport (second highest in English football history), White is England’s all-time leading goalscorer and has more goals than RMT. 52 goals in 113 games.

They obviously have a great legacy and big shoes to fill, but it feels like the right time, it’s a transition.

The experience remains, but younger players have already carved out an undeniably exciting path without rebooting or rebuilding. Alessia Russo, Lauren Hemp, Ella Tunney… and the list goes on.

We see this balance in the euro. Jill, Ellen, and the young players who once carried the demon world on their backs are still shrouded in fate and fear.

The 25-year-old captain Leah Williamson said at Wembley shortly after the final whistle.

“It’s about being in the field. I’m telling you: the kids are fine.”

The future is bright, both on and off the field, and players like Scott and White will never be lost in football.

Controversy? it’s in his blood. I do not care what they say. Whether they finally hit our TV screens or we don the three Tech Zone lions again, we’re far from done.
