England football managers Gareth Southgate and Salina Wigman paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth II following Her Majesty’s death.

Britain’s longest-reigning monarch died on Thursday at the age of 96.

As patron of the Football Association, Her Majesty has a close relationship with the national team and, as is well known, she presented Bobby Moore with the World Cup after the Three Lions’ victory in 1966.

“My thoughts today are with King Charles III, the FA Chairman, the Duke of Cambridge and the Royal Family,” Southgate said.

“While we remember and celebrate the life of Her Majesty The Queen, we also acknowledge her outstanding leadership and outstanding service.

He showed the world what it means to be British. His values, dignity and resilience were a role model for all of us and gave us stability and security in the best and most difficult times.

I am proud of her as our sponsor and we sing God Save the Queen before every game.

Southgate are looking to lead England to World Cup glory later this year and will follow in the footsteps of Wigmans Lions, who won Euro 2022 on home soil in the summer.

“I just wanted to join the millions of people around the world who are celebrating his life and mourning his death,” Wigman added.

“My country has always had great respect, admiration and love, and I know that this is a feeling not only in the Netherlands but throughout the world.

Increased ties with England strengthened ties with Her Majesty the Queen. I could feel the love that the community had for her as a mother figure that people were looking for stability and peace in uncertain times.

“Having my players and staff sing the national anthem with respect was a reminder of what it meant to the country, it was written on our jerseys but it was also in our hearts.

“This summer, he took the time to write me and the players a letter congratulating us on our success,” I shouted.

“Your Highness, you have inspired me with your tireless work ethic, leadership, dignity and kindness.

“My thoughts are with the Royal Family and the UK as a whole as they come to terms with this tragic news.
