With audience record, Inter and Corinthians draw in the final of the Brazilian women’s

by

With the largest audience in the history of women’s football in Brazil, Internacional and Corinthians drew 1-1 this Sunday (18), in the first match of the Nacional final, in Beira-Rio. The return game will be next Saturday (24), at 2 pm, at Neo Química Arena, in São Paulo.

The management of the Rio Grande do Sul team had announced before the match that all tickets on sale had been sold. The final number released was 36,330 people. At 10 minutes, Inter announced, through their social networks, that 31,000 fans were already inside the stadium, which represented the broken record.

The best previous record had been that of Corinthians, which, in the decision of Paulista last year, against São Paulo, took 30,077 people to its arena.

There is a possibility that the record will be broken again next Saturday. The capacity of Neo Química Arena is 49 thousand people. Corinthians fans launched a campaign on Twitter with the hashtag #InvasãoPorElas so that the stadium is full.

After this Sunday’s draw, whoever wins the return game will retain the title.

Corinthians tries to maintain its dominance in national football and reach the fourth Brazilian conquest. The team was champion in 2018, 2020 and 2021. Internacional is in the decision for the first time and took the lead in the 31st minute, after a move by Duda, who crossed for Milene to finish for the goal.

The visitors reached the tie in the 12th minute of the final stage, when Jheniffer received a long throw and invaded the area to equal the score.

From there, the São Paulo team grew on the field and could have won. Five minutes from the end, Belinha, from Inter, was sent off.

The coach of the Brazilian team, Pia Sundhage was in Beira-Rio to watch the match.
