Hamilton: ‘It’s a shame for the spectators that Verstappen can secure the title so early’

by

It was a pity for the spectators that Max Verstappen could be crowned champion in this year’s Formula 1, with five Grands Prix remaining in the season finale, the Lewis Hamilton.

The British Mercedes pilot said that what is happening in this year’s championship is not good for the sport, while he recalled the great battles that took place for the title last year, and also in 2018.

Hamilton’s statements in detail:

“I’m not thinking too much about Verstappen’s second title. But to clinch the league with five games to go is a shame for the viewers. It’s a shame for everyone, even us, who fought last year and stayed alive until the end. This is much more interesting. It’s never good when the season ends so early, even when I was the one taking the championship.”

“For the driver who is crowned champion it is very nice, but for the sport and the spectators, not so much. I feel grateful to have experienced moments like those of 2018, when everything was decided in the last 17 seconds. And of course for last year’s, when there was passion and tension until the end.”
