Konstantinos Thomaidis, who passed away on May 27, 2021 at the age of 87, played a leading role in the creation of ELOT and the inclusion of Olympic taekwondo on the map of national federations, with the sport leaving SEGAS in November. 1987.
He served for a long time as president, but also as general secretary of the Federation, devoting much of his life to the development of Olympic taekwondo.
In the first recruitments after the departure of the sport from SEGAS (16/12/87) he took over as general secretary (president Andreas Hatziandreou), a position in which he remained until May 11, 1991.
In December 1990, he played a leading role in the European Union’s historic decision to expel the Turkish Cypriots from international competitions and Greece’s presence in them. From March 1992 he was again in the position of general secretary of the Federation, while from February 1995 until the end of April 1996 he took over the presidency of ELOT, before being given the title of honorary president.
