The Brazilian women’s soccer team will face France and Jamaica in the group stage of the 2023 Women’s World Cup, which takes place between July 20 and August 20 next year in Australia and New Zealand.
The fourth team in group F will be defined during the repechage played by Panama, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay and Chinese Taipei in February next year.
The announcement was made during an event held by FIFA (International Football Federation) this Saturday (22), in New Zealand, to define the groups in a draw. In all, 32 teams were divided into eight groups formed by four teams. They will play 64 matches during the competition.
Three of these selections will still be defined by repechage next year. One of them will compete with Brazil in its debut, on July 24, in Adelaide, Australia.
Champion of the Women’s Copa America 2022, the Brazilian team was classified straight to the World Cup. With this, this will be the ninth time that the team participates in the Cup, which will be in its 9th edition.
The country won the runners-up title in 2007 and a third place in 1999.
The opening game will take place at Eden Park stadium in Auckland, and the final will be played in Sydney, Australia.
