If you put me in the role of Neymar, I hope to do the best, says Rodrygo

Author of the pass that resulted in Casemiro’s goal, in the 1-0 victory over Switzerland, this Monday (28), at the 974 stadium, in Doha (Qatar), striker Rodrygo says he was prepared to enter the second half —he came on after the break, replacing Paquetá.

“I knew I had the possibility to start as a starter, but in training it was Fred who trained. I was mentally prepared that he [Tite] would need me in the second half.”

The player’s entry gave more movement to the Brazilian team, which does not have the injured Neymar. Rodrygo understands that he can help more.

“If I can do half of what Neymar does, I’ll be in good shape. I don’t want to compare myself with him, but if I put myself to do his job, I hope to do it in the best way.”

Rodrygo, 21, also says that playing in the World Cup in Qatar is a dream that he has had since he was 14, when he was in the country with the under-15 team of Santos, on an excursion.

“I kept asking myself what I was doing here, and it was at the time that it was decided that the Cup would be here. So I thought ‘ah, I understand, in 2022 I’ll be here’. I prepared myself and I always dreamed that I would be here. Today That dream is coming true.”
