By scoring the second Brazilian goal in the 4-1 victory over South Korea, this Monday (5), for the round of 16 of the World Cup in Qatar, striker Neymar scored for the seventh time in World Cups and climbed in the list of the country’s top scorers in the competition.
He is equal to center forward Careca in eighth place on the list, led by Ronaldo Fenômeno, who has 15, followed by Pelé, with 12. Neymar also added his goal number 76 with the jersey of the Brazilian team, which puts him just one behind Pelé —according to the Fifa (International Football Federation) account, which rules out several friendlies for the King—, the top scorer of the Brazilian national team.
The number 10 of Tite’s national team also became the third player in the country to score goals in three different World Cups, after Pelé and Ronaldo.
The King of Football, who is hospitalized in São Paulo, is still the only one who managed to score in four editions, in addition to being the only three-time world champion in the history of football.
“It is a great pride [estar ao lado de Pelé e Ronaldo]🇧🇷 I conquered things I would never have imagined. I’m very happy”, said Neymar as he left the field.
