The King of Football’s family agreed with the management of the Ecumenical Necropolis Memorial vertical cemetery, and the player’s body will be placed in a mausoleum on the first floor of the building.
The information is confirmed by the advisory of the Memorial, who denied the Sheet that a golden coffin will be used.
The change will transform the place into a kind of new tourist spot in Santos, on the coast of São Paulo, with visits open to the public a few days after the ceremony.
The family members’ initial idea was that Pelé’s body would occupy the ninth floor of the Memorial, in a tomb with his father João Ramos do Nascimento, Dondinho, and his brother Jair Arantes do Nascimento, Zoca, but the hypothesis ended up being discarded due to logistical difficulties. .

The site has been approved for more than 20 years by the Guinness Book as the highest cemetery in the world, with a total area of 40,000 m², 90% of which is a native and preserved area of the Atlantic Forest.
He was chosen by the King of Football due to his close relationship with the former owner, Argentine businessman Pepe Altstut, his personal friend.
