Tsitsipas “wiped” and passed to the 2nd round of the Australian Open

Facing difficulties only in the third set, o Stefanos Tsitsipas prevailed 3-0 sets, 6-3, 6-4 and 7-6 (8-6)of Kenten Alice securing qualification to the second round of the Australian Open.

The 24-year-old tennis player absolutely defended his serve at first two sets and making a break he reached a comfortable 2-0 in the sets.

In the third set, however, his French (No. 61) opponent proved to be a tough nut to crack. For the “64” phase, Tsitsipas will face off on Wednesday with Rinky Hijikata (Australia, No 169), who defeated Yannick Hanfmann (Germany, No. 128) by upset, 4-6, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6, 6-3, after 4 hours and 25 minutes of play. Although Hanfman had 21 aces and 63 winners, his 50 errors cost him the “64” stage.
