Ktistakis and Despotakis in the Junior/Young Women nationals

Giannis Ktistakis and Marios Despotakis take over the reins of the Junior and Young Women’s national teams respectively.

The Junior and Young Women’s National Teams have scheduled obligations in the summer with the respective European Championships and at the helm of the two teams will be Giannis Ktistakis and Marios Despotakis.

Ktistakis is a TEFAA graduate with postgraduate studies in Sports Organization and Management at the University of Novi Sad, Serbia and a doctorate from SEFAA in the field of sports coaching. He has been the A’ coach in the men’s team of the Ilion Union and in Pefki in the B’ National division, in the women’s team of Athenaikos with which he won the double in 2011 and reached the semi-finals of the Eurocup the same year, in the women’s team of Protea Voulas and in the team of elites of E.S.K.A. In 2022, he took over as the first coach of the National girls’ team (U16) where he took 6th place in the European Championship. In 2019, she took charge of the Young Women’s National Team (U20) that participated in the European Championship. He was second coach in the National Youth Men’s Team in 2000 and 2010 (silver medal European (U20). He was second coach in the National Women’s team (2010, 2011). .K , Marousi, Panhellenios, Ampelokipoi), in Athenaikos (Eurocup Women, 2010).

Despotakis is a graduate of the School of Coaches and Computer Science. He has won a championship and a Greek Cup with Hesperides Kallithea (2005-06) and in total as a coach he has led his teams to promotion 21 times! As a player, he made his first shots in Peristeri and has competed with Ilysiakos in A2 Men’s. He started his coaching career at the academies in Argo Kipoupolis, followed by Aris Petroupolis, GS Agios Anargyron, Aeolos Tavrou, Paleo Faliro, Academy 89 (men), Glyfada, Hesperides Kallithea, Panchiakos, FEA , Apollo Smyrnis, Union Ilio, Dafni Dafniou, Arkadikos (Men’s A2), Ionian NF (Men’s 3rd National Team), Pefki, Artemis Acharnon, Eleftheria Moschatos (Women’s A1), while he has also been an assistant coach at AEK.

The Young Women’s National Team will take part in the European Championship B U20, which will be held 28/7-6/8 in Craiova. The Junior National Team will take part in the 2nd U18 European Championship, which will be held 30/6-9/7 in Sofia.
