Papagiannis: “I’m not happy with the season, let’s erase the past and correct ourselves”

With his first goal this season, o Panathinaikos he prevailed with his characteristic ease Ionian (102-70) for the 14th game of the Basket League, using both Nikos Hugaz, Avdala and Samonturov.

With his statements to the ERT camera, Mr George Papagiannis he referred to the importance for young athletes to get playing time, while he also spoke about the progress of the “greens” so far, stressing, among other things, that he is not happy and that the team must immediately improve.

George Papagianni’s statements in detail:

“It is very important for the team that the youngsters played. Through training they play in games. There is a good shot from last year. It was a very good opportunity for them to use and show what they can give to the team in the next period. It is important for the team.

We as Panathinaikos want every player to improve through training and for every player to be very good. Greek basketball needs more players. All new players are important. There is effort and daily work.

We knew from the beginning that we have to generate energy regardless of the opponent. We wanted to phase out, work on some things. It was an easy win.

It’s not that we just beat Zalgiris, it was the difference. It was something unprecedented, it had never happened to me before. To be honest Paris Lee and everyone else did everything to turn the momentum around in the second half. This must also be done in the next games from the first minute and we must be ready in defense.

We have a difficult double week. We want to show a better face and show will and fighting spirit. From there the Final 8 is a title. We want to start building when the time comes.

I am not happy both as a team and individually. We must erase the past but not forget everything. We keep the negatives that we need to fix. We have two goals in Greece. In the Euroleague we are down and it is difficult. We’ll go game by game and we’ll see.”
