Vladislav Blumbergs became an OFI volleyball player on Tuesday. The Cretan TAA announced the acquisition of the international Latvian center for the continuation of this season, in order to claim their goals in the Volley League and the Men’s Cup.
The 24-year-old previously played in Lyon.
In detail, the announcement:
“In Greece is the 24-year-old (1m.98) Latvian international center Vladislavs Blumbergs, who is another transfer reinforcement of the club’s volleyball team, in its effort to present itself stronger in the rest of the championship.
Blumbergs is OFI’s third transfer, after those of international winger Giorgos Tziumakas and Turkish winger Altai Demirtsi.
The international Latvian center, nails at 345 and blocks at 325 and will strengthen OFI in the battles on the net.
OFI’s new transfer acquisition played in France with Lyon (ASUL Lyon Volley), while he has also played in Latvian SK Jekabpils Lusi.
In his first statements he stated that “it is a new challenge for me. I came to help OFI stay in the first division. I believe it is possible. I will work hard to help him succeed”.
As for whether he knows anything about the Greek league, he said: “I know some things about the Greek League. My team-mate in the national team, Ermans Engleskalns, who played for Olympiakos, has spoken to me and I will discuss with him, because he is an excellent player and I’m taking his point. He’s told me it’s a strong league.”
About OFI, Bloombergs said that: “My agent told me about OFI and I saw some things on the internet. I’m glad to be here and I’m going to try my hand.”
OFI’s new acquisition was welcomed at the “Nikos Kazantzakis” airport of Heraklion, by OFI’s General Chief, Dimitris Zlatilidis.
Blumbergs is immediately placed at the disposal of OFI’s coach, Costas Delikostas, and an attempt is made to play in Wednesday’s match in Kifissia (17:30) for the “16” of the Greek Cup.
