Upheaval and qualification for Markopoulos

Markopoulos won a 3-1 set, while losing 0-1, in Halkiopoulio in Lamia in the penultimate match of the second phase of the Women’s Volleyball Cup and qualified for the quarterfinals of the competition, pending the draw of the eight.

In the first set, Lamia escaped 11-5, with AOM trailing 12-9, but quickly losing touch on the score again (16-10, 19-11), with Fthiotis leading 12-8 at second set and accept a 0-9 run for 12-17 and 1-1.

The tie was decided in the third set, where AOM led 15-9 from 9-9, but 18-22 became 22-22, with the visitors losing a double bowl set (22-24) to go within 30-29 which became 30-32 with three Leatham attacks.

In the fourth set, AOM again escaped with 9-15, with Lamia reducing 18-20, however with consecutive errors it became 18-24 and Leitham forming the final 20-25.

2nd set: 8-6, 12-16, 14-21, 14-25

3rd set: 5-8, 14-16, 18-21, 30-32

4th set: 6-8, 10-16, 18-21, 21-25

*Lamia’s points came from 7 aces, 56 attacks, 7 blocks and 19 opponent errors and AO Markopoulos Revoil’s points came from 9 aces, 49 attacks, 12 blocks and 27 opponent errors.
