Stoiximan Super League: Aris-Panathinaikos derby and the playoffs go through Volos

by

Volos-Atromitos

This is the sixth game between the two teams with the Volos team at home and there is a perfect balance between the two opponents, with two wins for each and one draw.

In none of the five matches has he remained without a goal, since the draw between them was with a score of 1-1 and it is their last meeting in Volos. Van Weert had equalized for the hosts, while Koulouris had put Atromitos in front of the score.

Atromitos had started his away duties with Volos ideally, since in his first three visits there he had won three, two for the league and one for the Greek Cup and he had even scored three goals in each match. His wins for the league were 3-2, while for the Cup he prevailed 3-0 on January 7, 2020.

In the first six meetings between them, regardless of competition, the home team had never won and the start was made by Volos on January 4, 2021, when they won 1-0 thanks to a goal by Pereas. The four consecutive victories of the home team that took place in total after this starting point were an exception, since in the last two again the home team did not prevail.

In total, the two teams have played 12 matches and only in four did the home team win. Goals have been scored in eleven times and only on January 19, 2020 did the game end 0-0.

Ares-Panathinaikos

For the 62nd time they will compete for the championship of the A’ National/Stoiximan Super League starting with the game Aris – Panathinaikos 2-1 (76′ Perros, 77′ Kalliontzis – 11′ Angelopoulos) on January 24, 1960 which was also the first in general for the two teams, since in the Second Round they competed at the headquarters of the Greens.

After the victory of Aris, Panathinaikos made four consecutive victories in the next four at home and away, while they kept their unbeaten streak until October 15, 1967, when a second victory came at home again with 2-1 (54′ Petkakis, 65′ Konstantinidis – 74′ Papaemmanouil).

Kristof Vazeha is the footballer with the most goals in the history of matches with home team Aris, having scored seven, while Kalliotzis, Alexiadis, Panakis and Lymberopoulos are far behind him.

There are ten matches between the two teams that have ended without a goal and apart from 0-0, there is also 0-1 for Panathinaikos with ten appearances. The usual score in Aris’ wins is 2-1, a result that made his first two against the Greens and then made it seven with this score.

Panathinaikos has not been defeated in the last four against Aris, where of course three of them are at home and this one with Aris at home ended in a goalless draw for last year’s Stoiximan Super League Playouts. The Thessaloniki side prevailed 1-0 in last year’s regular season match thanks to Aboubakar Kamara’s goal in September 2021.

Aris have won their last four at home without conceding a goal, in a streak that started after Aris – OFI 1-1 on October 30, 2022.
