by

He categorically ruled out any modification to the measures announced by the government for the stadiums o Thanasis Plevris. After the meeting with the Super League, the Minister of Health made it clear how will be maintained until January 16 the fullness 10% with a “ceiling” of 1,000 people, but in the meantime he will work out the proposals of the league, while he asked the fans for patience for 15 days.

«The health situation of the country forced us to take some restrictive measures. We understand that there is a problem in terms of operation, especially in football and the Super League. What we discussed is how the ministerial decision for this first 15 days will be implemented. We are mainly monitoring the epidemiological situation in the country. However, because there were specific proposals from the Super League for a protocol mode, where the measures will be observed and the league process can work as smoothly as possible, I promised to work on these proposals together with Lefteris Avgenakis, so that there is a specific context. If the epidemiological situation of the country allows it at that time, our will is to reopen the stadiums in a way that will protect public health“, Stressed the Minister of Health and added:

«We believe that the fans should be patient this 15-day period, the image of the country at the epidemiological level is very important, but there are positive approaches from the League that a protocol can be applied for both vaccinated and by observing the measures and specific capacities that will be more realistic. We are waiting for the proposals from the League. Comments will be made and we will definitely process them within 15 days. To be honest. To be completely honest, on the part of the government in this context there will be no change but we are looking at the extent to which the image of the country allows for a change after January 16th. I believe that the League has a framework of realistic proposals».

The president of the League, George Borovilos, he said in turn: «I thank the Minister who agreed to have this meeting immediately to see the problem that arose. We had a constructive discussion. Football has shown that it respects the protocol and those who do not know should know that only vaccinated people enter the stadiums. The first thing we are interested in is health, we have proven it in the two years that the pandemic has existed. But there is an objective problem with our fans who were vaccinated and legally booked season tickets to be next to their favorite teams. We will be in close contact in the next 15 days, to see in what context we will see in order to reconcile these conflicting problems».

In addition to the two men at the meeting were also Costas Karapapas, George Kosmas and Katia Koxenoglou.
