Takianos took over PAOK

by

Fotis Takianos is the new coach of the PAOK basketball team. Today the Dicephalus of the North formalized the agreement that the two sides had reached with a relevant announcement that he issued. The Greek coach signed a contract until the end of 2023-24.

PAOK’s announcement:

“KAE PAOK mateco announces the agreement with coach Fotis Takianos, who takes over the technical leadership of our team until the end of the 2023-24 season. We welcome last season’s leading coach in the Basket League to the PAOK family.

This will be the third appearance of Fotis Takianos in PAOK, but in a different capacity. In the summer of 1993, he wore the black and white for the first time, arriving on a transfer from Makedonikos. A serious injury, however, did not leave him much room to participate during that season, at the end of which PAOK won the Korats Cup. He returned in the 2006-07 season as an assistant coach, first alongside Bane Prelevic and then Kostas Pilafidis and is now preparing for his third term in our team, this time as head coach.

Fotis Takianos was born in Thessaloniki on April 14, 1969. He played basketball for Makedonikos, PAOK, Aris, MENT, KAOD and Siatista.

As a coach, he worked as a member of the technical staff of Iraklis, AEK and PAOK, before taking over as first coach at Panorama, which he led from the second national team to promotion to A1 in the 2007-08 season. He also worked with Rethymno, KAOD, OFI, Doxa Lefkada, Trikala and during last year with Larissa, which he led to the top four of the championship, a course that also gave him the title of coach of the year.

Fotis Takianos has also worked outside of Greece, in teams from Kosovo, Cyprus and Qatar”.
