Panathinaikos AO goes on the counter-attack, due to the sad events that took place in the indoor stadium of Agios Thomas, in the European derby against Olympiakos.

The “greens” issued a statement today (20/2) in which they clarified, among other things, that they will take legal action against anyone responsible and, on the other hand, that they want to meet with the Minister of Citizen Protection, Takis Theodorikakos!

The relevant announcement in detail:

“Panathinaikos Athletic Club announces the actions it took and will take regarding the sad events in the Challenge Cup home match against Olympiakos.

The management of the Association sent a letter-complaint to the Headquarters of EL.AS. where he describes in detail what really happened in the closed gymnasium of Agios Thomas and urgently requests that the case be clarified, that disciplinary responsibilities be attributed to its organs for possible breach of duty and insufficient exercise of their powers, as well as that a relevant sworn administrative examination be ordered.

The said letter, Panathinaikos A.O. notified the Ministry of Citizen Protection, while a meeting with the Minister will be immediately requested, in order to express the Association’s protests at every level and in every way.

In addition, a lawsuit will be filed against anyone responsible and the Association will defend its legal rights to any competent authority until responsibilities are assigned and similar impermissible situations are prevented in the future.”
