The first World Table Tennis Feeder tournament of the year in the German city was held last week and Katerina Toliou was eliminated in the second qualifying round of the women’s singles. In the same place he will now make new useful racing tests with the aim always to advance as far as possible.
The WTT Feeder Dusseldorf II takes place from 21 to 24/02 at the Deutsches Tischtennis-Zentrum and on Monday the singles draws took place. Toliou is directly in the second round of the qualifiers this time thanks to her position in the international rating table (number 189).
In the second round, also on Tuesday, she will face either Hong Kong’s Li Hoi Man Karen or Luxembourg’s Ariel Barbosa, who meet earlier in the morning.
WITH FOUR ATHLETES NEXT WEEK AT THE YOUTH CONTENDER OF PORTUGAL
In Portugal, the Greek presences will continue in the WTT Youth Contender 2023. The powerful tournament will take place from February 25th to March 3rd in Villa Real, the boys compete from 01-03/03 and their strength will be checked there by Giannis Malamoudis of Ifitos Patras, George Kosmas of DAO Tavros, Petros Liotsis, also of DAO Tavros and Kostas Fakaros of Poseidon Loutraki.
All children will participate in two age categories. The 17-year-old Malamoudis in the Under 17 and Under 19. The 15-year-old Kosmas, Liotsis, as well as the 14-year-old Fakaros, will compete in the Under 15 and Under 17. The head of the expedition, which will depart on Tuesday 28/02, will be the coach of AS FEA Ioannina, Konstantinos Kostopoulos.
AT THE A.M.A. TOURNAMENT OF EGYPT THE BURNIA
In the international competitions for people with disabilities, the start for the Greek colors in 2023 will take place in Egypt with Evanthia-Irini Bournia. The 2022 World Championship Class 1 bronze medalist will take part in the ITTF Fa20 Egypt Para Open 2023, which will be held in Giza on February 25-27. She will leave on Thursday and will be accompanied by her coach Eleftheria Daundakis.
The tournament has all individual events, but when it comes to women’s doubles and mixed doubles, at least for now, Bournia is on the list of athletes without a partner.
