The vice president of Asteras Tripoli, Dimitris Borovilosspeak to Action 24 and referred to the Arcadian PAE, as well as the team’s academies.

In addition, Mr. Borovilos also spoke about the proposal submitted by Asteras for more Greeks in the league.

Regarding Asteras’ proposal for more Greeks in the league: “The reason was the fact that the coach of the national team, Gustavo Poyet, watches games to find talents that can fill the national team and he sees teams that mainly use foreign players. This is how we submitted the proposal to the Super League for the mandatory presence of Greek footballers in the eleven of the games of the Greek league”.

For Astera’s academies: “We here at Asteras, as you know, have created for 20 years a club with the vision of Mr. Bakus and Mr. Kaimenakis, who came to our city to create, in his place of origin, one and the other loved him more than the his place of origin, Mr. Kaimenakis, a good football team.

Their vision, because they are self-made, was that this team would once stand on its own two feet and not need the money of the owners. This is how we created the academy, which after so many years we are proud of and we hope is one of the best in Greece”.

On the problems that academies for children have to deal with: “Bad lies, the talent doesn’t exist in Arcadia to be able to staff the academies of Asteras, which is a Super League team, and so we are forced to recruit children from all over Greece and abroad, but we are mainly targeting Greece. We have 60 – 70 children that we host in our city and we face problems due to the distance with their family, the school and the psychology of the child that sometimes a talent is mandatory from an early age to come to the city. Asteras provides all the possibilities to support the child. We have an administrative team in the team made up of specialized people who can support the child in school, in his psychology and of course in his playing obligations to develop in football and become a professional footballer”.

For the use of Greeks who can staff the ranks of the National Team: “Asteras is trying to do that. At the moment, four or five children from Asteras are playing in the men’s national team. But there is the competitive problem and the coaches because of the purpose, the grades and the anxiety about the place in the league that they have management and coaches are forced to sideline these kids. Asteras is trying and you saw it in the last matches with Mr. Manzio that we have put in a lot of new guys and more will come in later.”

Regarding the response of the other groups to Astera’s proposal for more Greeks: “They unanimously accepted it and now we are waiting for the details to shape the plan for next year but all the teams unanimously accepted it. Now if it will be one or two we will see. When you plant a seed, it slowly becomes a tree.”

His message to the parents of young footballers: “I would like to tell parents to be close to their children, to advise them but not to fill them with stress and not to rush to make the big career. Many times children see their own dreams. To let the children have their own dreams and be close to their efforts”.
