Joint announcement of 40 La Liga clubs on the Negreira case

by

They expressed their strong concern 40 of the 42 teams in La Ligaissuing a joint statement on the Barcelona case and the payment to a company owned by former referee Negreira.

“La Liga has exposed to all members of the representative committee the various actions it has taken and is taking, among which are: Letter to the Prosecutor’s Office as announced yesterday by the president, communication with various organizations in Spain and Europe with the data and information that La Liga deems relevant, and further actions that La Liga currently deems not to make public in order not to prejudice the investigation.

Yesterday, during the meeting, most of the LaLiga clubs expressed their deep concern about this case, which they consider extremely serious, for which the common stance proposal received the unanimous support of all the La Liga SmartBank clubs and of all La Liga Santander clubs except two, who opposed this joint statement for different reasons.

La Liga and its representative committee are deeply concerned and are working to investigate any irregularities that may have occurred surrounding the Negreira case, whether sporting or otherwise.

La Liga is following this matter very closely and will act firmly within the powers and limits allowed by the Law.

The representative committee strongly supports the actions of La Liga and the work it has done over the years to maintain the integrity of the competitions.”
