UEFA: Apology to Liverpool fans through Theodoridis for last year’s final

For the second time in a few days, this time up close, Mr Theodoros Theodoridis apologized to Liverpool fans about what happened to last year’s Champions League final against Real Madrid in Paris.

The general secretary of UEFA had expressed the Federation’s apology to the friends of the “reds” after the publication of the report drawn up on what happened outside the “Stade de France” and which it blamed French police and UEFA for the chaos that had been caused which resulted in even people who had bought a ticket being left out.

In detail what the relevant announcement states:

UEFA, Spirit of Shankly, Liverpool Disability Supporters’ Association, the Football Supporters’ Association and European Football Supporters met on Tuesday evening in Liverpool to have an open discussion on last year’s Champions League final and the recent conclusions on the independent research done.

Fan representatives expressed their expectations from UEFA following the report and acknowledged the sincere apology of general secretary Theodoros Theodoridis, as well as the commitment to implement the proposals made to improve fan safety and experience at future matches .

UEFA has also confirmed that it will continue to engage with supporters’ organizations in implementing changes following the publication of the report. UEFA aims to announce its plan before May 8.
