Valbuena: “We have a great chance to win this game”

In his statements, Olympiakos midfielder Mathieu Valbuena characterized the derby with Panathinaikos as a great opportunity to emerge victorious.

The French ace of the “red and whites” talked about the high motivation that all the players have for the game in question, while he also added about the huge desire of his friends Olympiakou to see their favorite team win the game with the “greens”.

For the derby with Panathinaikos: “It’s really a great game. It is very important for us and for all of Greece. We are well aware of the importance of this derby for the Greek league. Personally, when I started to learn about the Greek league, one of the first things I was told was about this derby. We all know that it has a very high ranking importance. We have the opportunity to reduce the difference to the leader to 2 points and if we succeed it will help us a lot to achieve our goals. Our motivation is very high and I hope we play a good game and succeed. We have a great chance to win this game because we will play in front of our people, we will have their support and that is very important. We have worked a lot in preparation for the match. Of course it is a difficult game because we would be playing against a very good team, obviously since they are first in the standings. But I really believe that with the support of our people and with the work we have done we will manage to win.”

For the first round match: “We missed a big chance in that game. We had played very well, with determination and with aggression against a very good team. I don’t know if we can talk about revenge, but we can certainly, especially at home, play such a good game again and we have all the ingredients to get the win this time. We have a quality team, we have prepared a lot and we are playing at home. It is not easy for anyone to come and play here. If we want to win the championship, we have a chance to play a similar game to that of the first round and get closer to our goal.”

His promise to the world of Olympiakos: “In football it is very difficult to make promises. What I can say is that we will give it our all, we will play with personality and we will really do everything in our power to succeed. We want it very much, we know how much the world and all those who love Olympiakos want it. All these people will be on our side and that gives us extra strength to play a good game. In football there are factors that you cannot control, but what we can promise is that we will give everything to win.”
