Crazy at Come on the Betis! Taking advantage (and) of the “gifts” of the hosts, Manuel Pellegrini’s team achieved a great upset (2-3) as part of the 23rd matchday of La Liga.
In a match, where Elche received two red ones and fell into three penaltiesof which Betis took advantage of two, the second in stoppage time.
It all started perfectly for Elche with two goals before the quarter mark. The first with Fidel in the 7th minute and the second with the former AEK ace, Lucas Bogue, in the 9th minute. And yet. Not only did she not capitalize on her lead, but she came out in the second half putting her… hands on her eyes.
The bad for the home team started in the 57th minute with the dismissal of Magallan. Straight red to hold on counter attack. It didn’t take long for the “verdiblancos” to capitalize on their numerical advantage, as they reduced the lead in the 65th minute with an Iglesias penalty. The momentum belonged to them, from there they found a second goal, in the 68th minute with Miranda.
In the final, Betis had a double chance again from the white ball for the complete reversal. In the 88th minute, Iglesias did not make the 2/2 from eleven meters. Something that Willian Jose did at 90’+5′! In the last phase, Rocco was sent off with a second yellow card, as the ball found his hand.
A victory that kept Betis on track for the Champions League and Elche at the bottom.
