The Vancouver Canaks assistant coach made a road race to find the stranger who saved his life.
On October 23, the Brian “Red” Hamilton was sitting on the bench during a match, when he noticed a woman on the podium, who was trying furiously to to draw attention.
Her persistence made him approach. The unknown woman, who was a fan of the Kraken (Kanax’s opponent that day), wrote to him on her cell phone: “The olive on the back of your neck is cancerous».
After the appropriate examinations he found that the unknown woman had saved his life. He suffered from melanoma, which, fortunately, he prevented at an early stage.
«The doctor told me that if I had ignored it for 4-5 years, I would not be here. I did not even know I had the olive. She showed it to me, I can not understand how she saw it. It was not very big, I was wearing a jacket, I was wearing a device that ties at that point, there were cables… Clearly he is a hero».
When he found out, however, he had no way of communicating with her to please her, so he started a online campaign, in order to find her and thank her.
«The message you showed me on your cell phone will stay in my mind forever. You changed the life of me and my family. Your instinct was right, I had melanoma and thanks to your persistence and the help of doctors, he left. We are looking for this wonderful man. Share the message to help us find the real hero to express our gratitude“, He wrote, among other things.

The heroine was the 22-year-old medical student Nadia Popovic, who met with the 47-year-old coach before the last game of the Canaks.
«It is very special that I can see him and talk to his family, whom I influenced so much“Popovic commented, adding:”When I saw the olive I thought “wow, this is exactly what a melanoma looks like”». .
The reward, however, is not only moral for Popovic, as both teams decided to offer her $ 10,000, to help her with her studies.
The internet community helped us find Brian’s hero, Nadia, and tonight they met in person where he got to express his sincerest thank you to her for saving his life.
