Bartzokas: “Important match against Bayern, we will not change anything in our approach”

His great and very important victory Olympiakou on her Barcelona (77-70) is now a thing of the past, with the “red and whites” now called upon to focus on tomorrow’s home clash with Bayern Munich (09/03, 21.00) at SEF, as part of the 28th Euroleague matchday.

With his statements at Media day, the coach of Piraeus, George Bartzokas, he spoke about the difficulties his team is expected to face against the Germans, stressing, among other things, that Olympiakos’ approach to the match will not change and will proceed as it does in every match.

What Giorgos Bartzokas said in detail:

For the win over Barcelona: “Everything played a role. The criticality, the importance of the game, the energy that the players gave us from the bench. We were able to play at a high level for three quarters, that’s what we needed to beat Barcelona. Ultimately, it was about our quality, because we have the quality to win these matches.”

For the match against Bayern Munich: “We play the fourth game in a few days. Of course, Bayern does the same. But, cumulatively we must quickly forget what happened yesterday and do our job well tomorrow. I don’t know how many chances Bayern have to catch the playoffs, but they are a team that never gives up. A team that attacks the ball very well and if they don’t have the patience to move the ball well to see what this defense gives you. They are a well structured team, they have a large amount of guards. Six players who can each score twenty points in the game. And in general, if there is the illusion that yesterday’s game was the difficult one and tomorrow’s is the easy one, it is completely wrong.”

On whether the looming qualification to the 8th “removes” stress from him and his players: “When a team has ambitions, it puts the pressure on itself. We put pressure on ourselves to do as well as we can. If we’re even close or we’ve already made it, it will show in the playoffs. Personally, it leaves me unmoved, indifferent. I believe it is a great achievement and I said so yesterday. There are many teams that are fighting for this and have not succeeded. So if seven games before the end we have achieved it or are close to achieving it, I consider it very important. We have seven games until the end of the regular season. We will not change anything in our approach. We will look at each game as we have done so far. Tomorrow is very important, it is the important game for us and we hope to have a similar good atmosphere in the stadium to succeed.”
