A two-month prison sentence (the original decision called for a three-month sentence, with one of those months suspended) was handed down to the Eindhoven fan who stormed the pitch during his team’s Europa League clash with Sevilla, while also attacking the goalkeeper of the Andalusians, Marko Dmitrovic.
In addition, the prosecutor announced that he is banned from entering the Eindhoven stadium for the next two years.
The judge stated that the 20-year-old entered the pitch of the stadium drunk, and with his actions he showed enormous disrespect to the footballer, the club and the true fans of Eindhoven. “He thinks he’s a sports fan himself, but all this has nothing to do with football”he said characteristically.
As for the fan himself, he stated: “I entered the pitch and everything happened very quickly. Before I knew it, I was on the ground with security on top of me.”.
Let’s remember that Eindhoven is expected to be punished for this specific incident by UEFA as well, with a stiff fine and a sentence behind closed doors.
Don’t mess with Serbia international Marko Dmitrovic.
A fan invaded the pitch at the end of Sevilla’s win away to PSV in Eindhoven, and tried to attack the goalkeeper.
It didn’t end well for him.#UEL pic.twitter.com/2wbRr2tBKh
