AO Thiras-Panathinaikos: First battle in Arta for a place in the final

by

The pair from last year’s final, AO Thira and Panathinaikos is facing the first this year semi-final of the Final 4 Women’s Cup in Arta (10/3, 18:00, ertsports).

The typically home team, in their 5th appearance in the Final 4, are claiming their fourth consecutive participation in the final, having already caused a sensation as they left out (multi-champion of the institution) Olympiakos in the quarter-finals.

“It’s a great honor for the club to be in this Final 4 and I’m proud of my team that with their results they earned the right to be here in Arta. But what I want is for us to give 100% here as well to continue the surprises”, commented o Vladimir Vasovich.

For their part, the “greens” want to defend the title they won last year in Heraklion, while this year they have won both matches of the Volley League against AO Thiras.

“I’m very happy that we’re here and we can kind of escape the problems we all know and get to the highest step. All teams are very strong, we have seen this from the league. We are here to defend last year’s title and we will do our best. I wish you good matches”, said the Yannis Kalmazidis.

However, the last time the two teams faced each other in a Cup semi-final (in 2021) the winner was Santorini, as they had prevailed 3-2 in the indoor game of Agios Thomas.
