Kalinic: “Olympiacos are among the favorites to win the Euroleague”

In an interview he gave to Sports Clubthe Serb spoke about the playing situation of the “Blaugrana”, stressing that at the given time they are not ready to win the trophy, but they are in the right direction in view of the continuation.

“I don’t think right now we are ready to win the EuroLeague. It may be a bit of a scary statement, but we still have time and we are moving in the right direction. Experience and composure will be key in the play-offs, where games will be slower and there will be more shots. Under these conditions I think the team can be successful” were Kalinic’s first words.

He then included Olympiakos in the question he was asked about the favorites of the competition: “As I said at the beginning of the season, Olympiacos has experience and is in good momentum. He’s first right now. I also see us, Real Madrid, Fenerbahce. We shouldn’t write off Efes, if they make the play-offs they are a tough team – just like Armani – to beat them three times, so I don’t think anyone would want to play against them“, said Kalinic.

Finally, he spoke about the exclusion of the Serbian national team from EuroBasket 2022, saying: “It’s easy to play it smart a year later when he’s calmed down and you’ve analyzed everything. I think we should learn from this” while to a question about his presence at the 2023 World Cup he said: “I don’t know if I’ll be at the Worlds to be honest. We’ll see what happens in the summer. Honestly, every year it becomes more difficult for me, I have more and more pain in my knees, achilles, lower back. We will see, I will talk to the coach and my family and we will make the best decision».
