Fenerbahce overcame the resistance of Zalgiris with Dorsey’s decisive goal

After two successive defeats against Valencia and Milan, Dimitris Itoudis’ team fought back and prevailed 87-79 her Zalgiris in Istanbul, celebrating its 18th victory in this year’s Euroleague and remaining in 5th place in the standings.

Leading the way for the winners, who improved their record to 18-10 and cemented themselves in the top eight, were Hey (19 points, 6 rebounds), Dorsey (15pts, 3 assists) and Goodrich (13p.), while for the Lithuanians who fell to 15-15 and remained in 9th place, stood out Schmitz (18 p.).

The match


Calathes scored the first points of the match, with both teams going hand-in-hand on the scoreboard, before Zalgiris take her first lead in the 8th minute (12-14) with Lekavicius. However, Fenerbahçe responded with a 10-2 run, ending the first period in front 22-16.

The second quarter started with Dorsey to hit his second 3-pointer of the night, putting the hosts up 25-16, before Brazdeikis and Taylor cut it to 27-22 for the guests. Polonara with two consecutive 3-pointers of his own made it 31-30 and Lekavicius tied the score at 35-35 at 18′, but as in the last minutes of the first period, Fenerbahce made 11-0 streakfor 46-35 of the first half.

Zalgiris responded early in the third period and cut it to 51-44 with a three-pointer by Schmitz at 24′, with Lantern to improve their defense afterwards, keeping their advantage levels close to ten points, before finishing the quarter in front with 65-55.

THE Dorsey made it 67-55 and got into double figures early in the fourth quarter and with three accurate foul shots he took on a three-point attempt, ‘wrote 77-62. Zalgiris tried to mount a last-ditch counter-attack in the final minutes, but could only get as close as -7 (78-71), before Fenerbahçe won with the final 87-79.
