Koutsias kept alive the dream of the Youth National Team!

The Youth National Team is alive for qualification! Despite seeing Slovakia shock them, scoring in just their second final, Anastasios Theou’s side did not give up and drew with Koutsia, with a 1-1 draw keeping them top of the group and still hopeful of reaching the finals Euro u19.

In the match, Slovakia had their first and only final attempt in the first half in the 2nd minute but Monastirlis saved Misovic’s effort. The blue and white then took the reins and pressed, looking for the goal. Kyriopoulos and Tzimas had finals but Hrdina reacted correctly, while at the end of the first part both Koutsias and Kalogeropoulos failed to score with the result being 0-0 and the finals 6-1.

Slovakia struck on the restart with Griger distributing and Gaidos scoring for 1-0 in the 50th minute. However, in the 67th minute, Koutsias managed to turn Greece’s superiority into a goal to make it 1-1. A score which remained until the last moment, with the blue and white team holding the fate in their hands.

In the other match of the fifth group hosts Ireland defeated Estonia 1-0. The qualification to the final phase of the event is taken by the leader of the group. Last match for the National Team on Tuesday 28/03/2023 at 21:30 against Ireland, in a game in which the qualification to the final stage of the European U-19 Championship will be decided.
