The beginning of the second set was different with Milonas investing mainly in the first time attacks and with a fully armored block reaching a double score early with 10-5 taking advantage of the mistakes in the “red and white” reception. In fact, the streak of Sakis Psarra’s team continued with Brian and Yordanov taking the lead and bringing the score to +8 (13-5) forcing Alberto Giuliani to call a timeout. The Italian coach threw Dimosthenis Linardo on the taraflex, giving height in front of the net, which helped Olympiacos to go on a 4-0 run and cut it to 13-9. Milonas, however, did not flinch and with two consecutive accurate attacks by Nanopoulos, he brought the score back to safe levels (17-10). The “homeric” battles continued with Milos investing in the serve making it even more difficult for Olympiakos to receive. However, Stern, Hidalgo and Koumendakis managed to reduce the score to 20-17 putting his team back into the game, but Neosmyrniotes brought the score back to +4. However, Olympiacos with a terrible demarcation managed to make a huge turnaround reaching 2-0 with 25-23.
