Olympic and Panathinaikos faces each other at the “Peace and Friendship Stadium” as part of the 32nd matchday of the Euroleague.
The “present” on the field was also given by the Federal coach of the Greek national football team, Gustavo Poget, who was at the stands of SEF to watch live the great “eternal” derby.
The 55-year-old Uruguayan coach even spoke to Nova’s camera before the big game, stressing among other things that he is basketball fan!
Gustavo Poget’s statements in detail:
For his presence at SEF:“I like basketball, it’s my second favorite sport. My father has played in two Olympics and four world championships. When I was little I had to decide whether to play basketball or football. In the end I chose football and came to see one of the biggest European matches.”
On the atmosphere he encounters at the derby: “It was a teammate who had gone to see Boca – River and then came to Greece to see the game with Olympiakos and Panathinaikos and compared the two atmospheres.”
On finally choosing football over basketball: “I think I made the best choice. In Uruguay, only my father played basketball.”
On whether he will copy some moves from basketball for the National Team, as Mitchell does when he watches Olympiacos basketball games: “I’ll do what Mitchell did!”
