Marousi defeated Koroivos Amaliadas with 75-59, in the context of the 25th game of the Elite League, Errikos Dunan and the leading scorer of the winners in the game, Vassilis Stavrakoukas, spoke to EEC Web Radio:
On how far Maroussi can go: “It is a very ambiguous category, one week you are 1st, the next 5th. It is impossible to predict where we will end up. The minimum goal is to claim home advantage in the play-offs, to have our home ground which is unbeaten to date and we are very strong in there. We would like to have that extra home boost in the play-offs, which is very important for us. From there, you don’t know where the placement will come from, so it might be better for us to place somewhere better without knowing what will happen down the line. What we claim is to have the advantage of our seat”.
For what is due to their course this year: “We certainly play very “tough” and good defense. The team was mainly aggressive and we have maintained that, we have just raised the intensity in defense. Because all teams have very good players, the “secret” is to be a family, this will take you one step further. When you’re playing for each other and you want to be a good teammate on the field first and foremost, that will help you move forward. This is what we have achieved this year, we have a family atmosphere, we help each other, we “fight” for each other and we want to take this step together for Marousi”.
For the 13-0 at home: “I feel that we play much more freely at home, we raise the tempo, we run, we make more combinations, we play better defense. It’s a psychological thing. Certainly the people have supported us since the first day, we have played some closed games as well. We just feel different on our pitch, we play with a better mentality.”
For their goal: “We players are thinking about promotion. Surely this is the goal, I believe, of everyone personally in the team and this is what we want to see, Maroussi back to A1. They are a team with a long history and both the management and the people deserve it. Marousi deserves it as an organization to be in A1”.
On how much 3×3 helped him: “It has helped me. It was definitely a big psychological boost, it’s a very fast and new sport. When I went to play it was like I wasn’t playing basketball, it was something completely new to me. I got to know it day by day and I liked it a lot.”
