Panathinaikos: “Shame! That the referee Ziogas be deleted from the KED and punished by the EEC”

An announcement requesting the removal and punishment of the referee Ziogas from the KED/EEC after his followers’ posts on social media that surfaced was issued by Panathinaikos. The “greens” demand a public apology from the referee of the last A1 Women’s final against Olympiakos, as well as the resignations of “all those responsible for this scandal”. At the same time, they are talking about farce and spoiling the championship.

The Panathinaikos Athletic Club expresses its dissatisfaction with what is taking place in the area of ​​basketball and the refereeing.

We were very surprised to see the posts of referee Alexandros Ziogas on his personal social media account.

His anger against Panathinaikos and other teams based on his fan identity far exceeds what we have known so far.

Obviously, the vast majority of referees (as well as athletes) in all sports supported or are supporting a team as they come from the field of sports and that is nothing to blame.

But from the moment the referees turn into potential fans then there is a serious problem not only for us as an Association, but as society in general.

We immediately call on the referee Alexandros Ziogas to publicly apologize for the characterizations towards Panathinaikos and the other teams, as if these are the standards expressed by a referee then what can we ask from the sports fans.

We demand from the KED to delete this particular referee from the lists as his complex is bottomless. We also demand the resignation of all those responsible for this scandal.

We ask the EEC for an exemplary punishment but also for the suppression of similar phenomena that ignite the situation and certainly do not honor the history of the sport in Greece.

Panathinaikos, like other teams, dedicate time, money and resources for the women’s basketball team to participate in the A1 championship and not to take part in such a farce. We are now talking about spoiling the championship and not about refereeing errors.
