The Greek table tennis is proud to do 7 out of 7 in its participation in the annual European championship for male and female athletes up to 21 years of age.
Just as last year in Cluj Napoca, Romania, this year in Sarajevo, Bosnia/Herzegovina, Malamatenia Papadimitriou has achieved this, who earned the right to participate in yet another top event on the continent, thanks to her good position in the international ranking.
The annual championship, which was created in 2017 and has not been interrupted in any year due to the effects of the corona virus, is being held at the Venue Arena Hotel Hills from tomorrow 05/04 until 09/04. She will highlight the new European champions in 5 individual events, the 19-year-old Greek champion from Salamina takes part in singles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles and will chase the best possible course.
In the afternoon, she also learned about her opponents through the relevant draws. Her coach in the women’s national team, Giorgos Karytsas, will be coaching.
In the U21 women’s singles, Papadimitriou is number 32 in the seeding. In stage 1 of the competition, he was drawn in the 3rd group. She is led by France’s Issa Kok and also faces Spain’s Ainhoa ​​Cristóbal and Bosnia’s Harisa Mezetovic on Wednesday 05/04. Clearly her initial goal is to take one of the top two spots in the group and qualify for stage 2.

In the U21 women’s doubles, a board of “32” was formed. THE COMPETITION SYSTEM
In the singles event, 8 athletes and the same number of athletes are directly in stage 2. In stage 1, the remaining 48 athletes enter a total of 12 qualifying groups. The winners and runners-up of the groups advance to stage 2. There, the 24 qualifiers from stage 1 and the 8 seeded athletes continue in 8 groups. The winners and runners-up of each will advance to stage 3.
In this stage the 16 qualifiers from stage 2 will compete in a knockout stage. The doubles events will be played from start to finish by single knockout.
