Tsitsipas: “I’m optimistic – I want big results on clay”

Stefanos Tsitsipas did not hide his high goals for this year’s clay court season, but also his optimism. The Greek tennis player spoke about his preparation ahead of the matches starting at the tournament in Monte Carlo.

“I feel really good, I’m excited for the clay season. It’s an amazing part of the year, we’re going to have a lot of tennis in the next few months and I think we’re going to see some really good games. I’m also looking forward to Roland Garros, but now I’m focused on Monte Carlo. Monte Carlo is my home, it’s a place that has given me wonderful memories”he said and continued:

“I always try to concentrate on each match individually. I can’t control what happens in a draw, what I can do is shape the board. And that will happen if I play well every round. That’s why I have to go out on the court, do my best. Sometimes it’s good to have very strong opponents early in a tournament because they force you to give 100%, so it can be a good warm-up for bigger games later. No board gives you easy games, no matter how good you are, all players from the Top 100 are fighting for these trophies, so you have to be well prepared for every game.”



Stefanos Tsitsipas spoke about his goals in the doubles matches in which he competes with his brother.

“We’ve had some wins in the last few months. We want a better result this time. Thanks to the organization for giving us this wild card. For me and Petros, after the Grand Slams of course, this is the most important tournament. This is our home and we can’t wait to get out on the court and give our best.”he emphasized and ended by talking more generally about his expectations…

“For this season my goal is to be well prepared, consistent and healthy, because I’ve had issues in the last few months. I hope the soil will treat my body well and I am quite ambitious. I want great results, I want to achieve good results for the people around me, for my country and for the world that follows me.”
