Baltakos: “If the Cypriot police does not give the OK, the final will not take place – We have an agreement with KOP”

by

The concern arising from the statements of the press representative of the Cyprus Police o Takis Baltakos he didn’t manage to… blow her away.

The president of the Hellenic Football Federation in his statements to Supersport Fm 104.0 said that the game, that is, the final of the Greek Cup, if the Cyprus Police does not give the relevant permission, it will not be possible to take place.

In other parts of the interview he gave to the Cypriot media, Takis Baltakos made it known that the EPO has informed the KOPand even there has been agreement. However, as he mentioned, there is a process that should be followed to sort out all the issues to hold the match and expressed his assessment that there would be no problem.

He pointed out in detail:

“We have agreed with KOP. There must be other procedures because the Police must also give their opinion. We have no progress yet. When he answers if he can police him then he will. If he does not give permission, there can be no match. This is true in every country and city. KOP will take the relevant actions, I imagine within the next few days. I don’t think there will be a problem, but we are waiting for the standard.”

Regarding the choice to hold the final in Cyprus, he said…

“Since last July when I was elected, we have said that the final should also take place outside of Greece, wherever there is Hellenism. Cyprus was the first choice and because it is the first time that the EPO has made such a decision. We had to cope with the demands, because it is not the easiest thing to do in Australia or any other country where there are many Greeks. We also talked with the English Federation about the final, but they accepted it, but we preferred Cyprus. We thought that the largest concentration of Hellenism is in Cyprus and it is also the easiest”he emphasized while clarifying that there was no negative vote but a “present”.

Finally he argued for the tickets: “None of this has been decided, as the Police have not commented. The stadium can hold 22 thousand fans, but we should also have the police station. Everything will be decided after the recommendation of the Police. Once we know that, then we’ll get into the details of the tickets. I have not thought about the possibility of the Police suggesting that organized sports fans from Greece should not come. Besides, you can’t control that, they may come individually.”
