AEK – ARIS
AEK managed to win both of their regular season league games this season, which last happened in 2006-07. Before these two consecutive wins by AEK, Aris had won the three games, after taking three points at home in 2021-22 and also winning both last year’s games of the two teams for the Playoffs.
Aris in the last three seasons has built a tradition, having not lost in any of the three games for the Playoffs at home to AEK, with the Thessaloniki team getting two draws in 2019-20 (2-2) and 2020- 21 (0-0). Last year they prevailed 2-1 at the Olympic Stadium, while they also won 3-2 in Thessaloniki.
In fact, in the last seven away matches against AEK, they were defeated twice and in the other five matches there were three draws and two wins.
AEK, after 14 consecutive victories in its new stadium, has a defeat and a draw in the last two, with Olympiakos for the last match of the Super League and with Panathinaikos for the premiere of the Playoffs.
PAOK – VOLOS
This is the fifth time PAOK will host Volos and the first for the Playoffs process.
In the four that have met so far, there are three PAOK wins and an impressive 4-4 draw in the 2021-22 season.
In total there are eight matches between them in both venues, with PAOK having six wins and two of their games having ended in draws.
Akpom scored both in the first match of Toumba and in Volos and is the only PAOK player to have scored against the Magnesia team in both games of the year.
Zivkovic scored two goals in the 4-4, something that none of the PAOK players had achieved in the six total games played by the two teams. Živković also scored in this year’s Toumba game for the regular season and has three goals against the Volos team in total.
PANATHINAICOS – OLYMPIACOS
The two games of the two teams in the regular season of the championship ended in a draw, with 1-1 at “Apostolos Nikolaidis” and 0-0 at the Karaiskakis stadium.
Panathinaikos are unbeaten in their last six matches against Olympiakos in both venues, with four draws in the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons and two wins – home and away – in last year’s Playoffs.
The last victory of Olympiakos is on May 16, 2021, when they won 4-1 at the Alexandra Avenue stadium for the 2020-21 Playoffs. At that time, the Red and Whites had prevailed in both Playoffs matches.
The two teams have met for three seasons in this process and with Panathinaikos at home there is a 0-0 draw in 2019-20, Olympiakos’ 4-1 win in 2020-21 and Panathinaikos’ win in 2021-22 with 1-0.
Away wins in derbies in recent years are rare, as the home team has lost just three of the last 20 matches. In the last 19 there are nine home wins, eight draws and three away wins.
