Rodney: “The derby with AEK is a final, like all the remaining games”

by

In the upcoming (23/4, 21:00) derby with AEK at “Georgios Karaiskakis”, the right back of Olympiakos spoke, Rodneycharacterizing both Sunday’s match as a final, as well as the rest remaining until the end of this season.

In addition, he spoke about his stay in Greece and the “red and whites” so far, stressing that he will give everything every day, so as to achieve his goals.

In detail what the Olympiakos defender said:

For the match with AEK: “It really is an extremely important match. In general, the games with AEK and Panathinaikos are very important because they are the two teams that are above us in the standings. For us it is a final, like all the remaining games. We have six games ahead, which for us are six finals”.

On whether they have a psychological advantage after their two wins in the last two games against AEK: “I don’t know if we have the psychological advantage. We certainly know the strengths of AEK’s game. We have played with them several times and each knows the other very well. All of us at Olympiakos should know what we have to do to win in games like this. We all have to give 100%, show our best and win the game which is difficult and important”.

For what the match with AEK will be judged: “I think the key will be concentration. It’s a game we’ve had many days to prepare. So we worked a lot on a lot of things and we have to be focused to apply all that in the race. We will see many of them in the game. In addition to being focused, we must be strong and psychologically ready. We are playing against a very strong opponent and we really have to play a good game and with the help of our crowd, which will be in Karaiskakis, win”.

On how much he has bonded with the team in such a short time: “I came to Olympiakos with the dream of playing in Europe and I am very happy that I was given this opportunity to realize this dream. I left Brazil as a winner. I conquered many things there, but my dream was to come here and conquer exactly the same. I am full of motivation and a lot of joy. I am very happy to be in Greece and in Olympiakos and I will always do what I have learned throughout my life. I will give everything, I will give my life for the shirt I wear. I have great relationships with all my teammates. Especially with the Greeks with whom I joke a lot. I want to thank them publicly for welcoming me in this way. Anyone who comes to Brazil to visit me will repay this wonderful hospitality. For all this I am very happy and I give everything every day.

My job is to run, mark, pass and do whatever my team needs on the pitch. I will give everything every day because I want to conquer what I came to conquer. Let’s bring Olympiakos back to the position it deserves. I know we are six points behind Panathinaikos and AEK, but our opponents will also play each other and we still have six games to win”.
