Tsitsipas: “Federer is the greatest of all time – I talk to Antetokounmpo through messages”

THE Stefanos Tsitsipas is in Madrid to compete in the Madrid Open.

His duties there begin next Saturday, where he will face whoever emerges from the match between Dominic Tim and Kyle Edmund.

On the occasion of his presence in the Spanish capital, the Greek tennis player gave statements to Marca, one of the most important newspapers in the country. There, he was asked to give his take on the greatest tennis player of all time, and his answer was clear.

“For me the GOAT is not the one who has won the most tournaments or the most slams or the most matches”Stefanos told Marca. “For me the GOAT is the person who has brought the most people to the sport, who has inspired a lot of people to do something in their life, the person who has brought joy to others with what they do. So in that case, it’s clear that Roger Federer has the biggest impact, and so does Nadal.”.

He was then asked about his relationship with the other great Greek athlete, Giannis Antetokounmpostressing that he is trying to maintain relations with the “Greek Freak”. “We don’t have the chance to meet very often, because of our demanding schedule, but also because we live on different continents. I try to keep in touch with him by texting. He is busy, but we try to talk, because the relationship we have as athletes is special. We communicate in a different way than other people. It helps us both”Tsitsipas specifically stated.
