For the odds of the championship situation with the AEK and what is happening with the Greek Cup, spoke about Jens Jonson!
The Danish midfielder made statements to the newspaper “Tipsbladet”referred to its unexpectedly positive course Union this year after last year’s 5th place, while he emphasized that the situation with the final of the Cup is… hopeless.
“I have to admit that I didn’t watch many AEK games last year, so I only saw that they finished fifth and had a terrible season. I was a bit skeptical because it’s a long way from the top five. But I was won over by the project that we will do better, we will go to Europe and build from there. I really didn’t expect it to happen so quickly“, Jonson initially reported.
On the prospect of winning the championship, for the first time in his career: “A championship is one of the few things missing in my career and I’ve been working towards it since I tied his shoes when I was four. I see our chances are good. We can decide that by winning the remaining games. They only have us in the finals so I think our chances are good. But it’s a league where everybody beats everybody, so it’s game by game».
On the situation in Greek football and the madness that prevails with the Cup final: “They are crazy about football here. To an extent I can compare it to my time in Turkey. Maybe it’s more violent here, although it’s similar. Football is very busy. We have a cup final to play in a little while, but a month before the game, we don’t know where and when we will play. Such things do not happen elsewhere. There is generally a lot of… politics over here, so it also has to do with the fact that there will be an election close to the date of the final.
There are also some other situations regarding the stadium. It cannot be held at the stadiums of Panathinaikos or Olympiakos, nor can it be held at OAKA, as in the past, as PAOK considers it to be an advantage for us. It’s hopeless».
For the accusations against presidents and agents for corruption and bribes in Greece: “It is completely crazy what is said and what happened in the past. I don’t know anything about what’s going on now, and I don’t want to guess. It’s just crazy and there’s an incredible amount of politics and power struggle in football here».
About the incident with the Polish referees: “I can’t say much about it. We didn’t know what happened. I think we read it in the media when we woke up in the morning at the hotel. Then we also learned from the team what happened. They didn’t know exactly what happened either, but we were told that the referee in question wouldn’t blow the whistle. Some thought that it was a great advantage for us, some others that it was a great disadvantage. After all, the referee of the match was Greek, which we knew was possible. We basically just have to play football, so whether the referee is Italian or Greek is secondary».
