Itoudis: “It seems a difficult intersection”

The federal coach spoke about the national team’s draw at the World Basketball Championship, Dimitris Itoudis.

The experienced Greek coach, after initially emphasizing that Greece’s participation in such a big tournament is the highest honor, commented that there should be patience regarding the players available at that time, while he expressed the opinion that in case of qualifying from the group, the crossover will be quite difficult as in the second group stage they will meet Lithuania.

We remind you that an official favorite was drawn in the 3rd group with the USA, New Zealand and Jordan.

Analytically:

“First of all, it is an honor that we are at another World Cup and indeed having secured qualification before the window process was completed, something that was achieved with the efforts of all the athletes and coaches who brought the National Team to be present in another great appointment.

The first thing we want is to have as many athletes as possible available at the end of July, to be healthy I mean and this is my main wish until the end of their obligations with their clubs, so that everyone can then put themselves at the disposal of the National Team.

From here on, with the first reading I think we are going to a difficult intersection for the continuation and probably with the presence of the Lithuanians, since for the first group it is obvious that we have the number one and undisputed favorite of the tournament, the USA. We may not know its composition yet, but it will certainly be a very good team.

This is a first assessment and I say again that the main thing is for everyone to be healthy and to start the preparation without problems and in the best possible conditions”.
