Triumphant Perez and dominant Red Bull at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix!

by

Sergio Perez triumphed in Azerbaijan, who after his victory in yesterday’s (39/4) Sprint Race, finished first in the main race of Baku, which was the fourth for this season of Formula 1.

Max Verstappen finished second, confirming Red Bull’s dominance, while Charles Leclerc may not have been able to take advantage of pole position, but he eventually made it onto the podium, finishing his efforts in third.

Monaco and Ferrari made a good start, holding onto the lead, but Verstappen took the lead on lap 3, taking advantage of the DRS activation. Two laps later it was Perez’s turn to comfortably overtake Leclerc, while in the back places, Hamilton managed to keep the aggressive Alonso behind him.

The two Red Bulls never looked back, steadily increasing their gap to the rest of the cars, with Perez pushing to take the lead from his teammate.

After the safety car came in due to a problem in De Vries’ Aphs Tauri, the gaps were reduced to nothing, with Hamilton the biggest loser after the drivers pitted, having dropped to 10th. Verstappen repassed Leclerc on the restart, with the two Red Bulls putting on a show of strength to eventually finish 1-2. Leclerc finished third, Alonso fourth, while Sainz, Hamilton, Stroll, Russell, Norris and Tsunoda completed the top ten.
