Angry response from Maccabi Tel Aviv on the break!
With a dominating performance in Game 4, the “people’s team” was crushed 104-69 the Monaco and so the ticket to the Final Four of the Euroleague will be decided in the fifth and last match in the Principality (10/5, 20:00)!
Great protagonists are Lorenzo Brown and Baldwin with 22 p. and 19p. respectively.
Only in the first quarter were the Monegasques competitive, with Sasha Obradovic to be ejected with two technical penalties at the end of the third period. The first scorers were James and John Brown with 13 p. and 12p.
The match
Monaco took advantage of Maccabi’s nervousness in the first four minutes, with John Brown and Motiejunas sending them to +8 (5-13). Then “the people’s team” came back with Boldwin and L. Brown and tied (13-13), with DiBartolomeo keeping the tie (17-17), until 8′. In the last two minutes, the guests made back-to-back steals and with baskets in the open court they closed the first period with a 7-0 run (17-24).
Explosive start from Maccabi in the second quarter, as through its defense it forced Monaco into mistakes, while at the same time taking “fire” outside the 6.75m. ran a 20-0(!), for +13 (37-24), in 15′. The answer of the Monegasques came from James and Okobo, who in turn found a rhythm and pushed them to individual scores of 2-12 (39-36), until 18′. However, the final minutes belonged to the home team. With “weapon” offensive rebounds and the protagonists of Colson and Nimbo closed the first half with an 8-0 run, going to the locker room with +11 (47-36).
With Colson’s baskets, Maccabi went to +15 (51-36) at the beginning of the second half, with Diallo reducing it (51-40), at 23′. The first reaction of the “people’s team” came from Baldwin for +16 (56-40). From that point on, the Katas team had a “party” on the floor, with Lorenzo Brown as the protagonist, pushing the difference to +24 (74-50), in the 29th minute. In fact, at that point, Sasha Obradovic was sent off with two technical penalties, with Baldwin returning to the court and… signing the +26 (79-53), with which the Israelis closed the third period.
With Hilliard and L. Brown, Maccabi sent the difference to +29 (86-57), at the beginning of the fourth quarter. From that point on, the match became free and procedural, with Katas’ team taking the final victory 104-69.
