Greek honors at the World Cheerleading Championship

Impressive performances for the Greek teams and Greek couples at the 2023 World Cheerleading Championship held in Orlando, USA.

The Senior Cheer Jazz team from Helliniko Asteri, after the 1st place they won at the European Championship 2022, was ranked 5th in the world at the World Cheerleading Championship 2023.

The 5th place in the world was also won by the couple Katerina Apostolato and Andreanidou Nina in the Senior Double Cheer Freestyle Pom category. In the Senior Double Cheer Hip Hop category, the Veneti couple Evangelia and Ethalia Rontogianni took 9th place in the world. Finally, the 10th place in the world was won by the Cheerleading All Girls team from Helliniko Asteri.

A separate award was reserved by the World Cheerleading Federation to the Hellenic Federation for the progress and achievements in the sport of Cheerleading. The award was received by the president of the Hellenic Federation, Michalis Fundedakis, together with the General Secretary, Evangelia Kritikou and the Special Secretary, Konstantinos Athanasiadis, who were at the ESPN Sports Complex in Orlando.

The president of the Hellenic Cheerleading Federation, Michalis Fundedakis, said: “Congratulations to all the athletes for their awards at the World Cheerleading Championships in America. We are proud of their achievements and will continue to support them.”

Regarding the award of the Hellenic Cheerleading Federation, he added: “We thank the World Federation and president Jeff Webb for honoring us with the National Federation Achievement Award. Our efforts and our progress over the years have been recognized and awarded at a global level.”

The competitive action of all cheerleading athletes is directed to the Panhellenic Championship June 23-25 ​​in OAKA and the European Cheerleading Championship June 30 to July 2 in Verona, Italy.
